Media nets are provided to be filled with small lava rocks which assists the water filtration. Or use the BioballsTM which provide over 30 sq. inches of surface area per piece. There are 100 pieces in each box. Recommend to use 2 boxes for each small water garden(avg. 8x10) and 4 with the large water gardens.
